Slik Helvetika steps into 2009 with their much anticipated first major full length release titled "HAFNIUM".
With major teams now working with the band, [Grammy nominated engineer and producer David Ivory, Chip Ruggieri at Chipster Pr {Judas Priest, Iron Maiden}, Wolfgang Rott {Iron Maiden},Ken Cavalier at Allure Artist Management] promotion effort, and pending US and European tours, 2009 will mark a pinnacle of songwriting, performance and exposure for Slik Helvetika's long awaited first major national release titled "HAFNIUM". Distributed worldwide by H'art in conjunction with SAOL. The songwriting is at it's highest level and the band has truly defined it's unique sound for the world to hear.

Slik Helvetika's history starts 2005: debut disc. Very simply Mik recording the kind of music he liked to write/play with no cares of what current trend was popular. The disc got alot of attention and charted all the way up to #19 on college radio on Mik's own Label Screaming Mimi Records. Slik followed up with various live performances at rock festivals and as support for national acts and meet demand.
The band signed with Screaming ferret Records 2007 and the follow up 5 song E.P. titled "Krypt Kicker-5" was released quickly while Mik was writing Hafnium. "KK5" had a more aggressive feel and featured bizarre humored skits and material pre-dating 1995. "It was minimizing risk giving this to an outside small indie lable as a trial run rather than our best and newest material.
Influences best pointed at are: Rob Halford/Priest, Queen, Sweet, Randy Rhoads, Zak Wyld, Butch Walker and the marvelous 3.
BAND PERSONALITIES...
Mik Myers is an extremely goal driven soul, bleeding passion into the music, performance and vision for Slik Helvetika. : Lead vocals, lead guitar, songwriter.
Mark Bennet [Truk Bennet] has the desire, dedication and rock solid groove that it takes to move a song or move an audience and is a show on his own while playing live. : All percussion and strong backing vocals.
Kjell Benner has played on all CDs, author of Hot Licks Polyphonic Bass and a long time comrade since the beginning. He has done some pretty major tour stints with Quiet Riot and will be doing as many live shows with Slik as his schedule allows.
LIVE SHOW...........
The live show is the biggest asset this band has. Fans say it's like being hit by a freight train. Mik and Mark are true performers with personalities to match. The live sound makes the disc sound tiny. "live.....we are putting out enough energy to run a whole city with every song" Myers says: " I am completely exhausted and spent after a show ..the intensity takes alot out of us, physical sports I do take less out of me than a Slik show". ....Often knocking each others instruments out of tune during colisions when we don't have a big stage. Playing an amped up version of the BEE GEE'S stayin' alive and QUEEN'S Bohemian Rhapsody? This band makes it mandatory to have a good time, groove, laugh, sweat and pump you fist into the air.
WHAT DOES SLIK HELVETIKA MEAN ?
The name is rather mysterious and fans like to add their own twist to what they think it means. It rolls out easy, sounds bold and leaves alot to the imagination. The words, and terms associated have a bold history through the 1500's.What does Confoederatio Helvetica mean in Latin?, why were Helvetican warriors thought to be invincible in the 1500s? which Helvetii tribe made captive Roman soldiers pass under the yoke upon victory in the battle of Gaul?, What threat did this hold for Caesar?
